A prominent athlete has told a Sydney court he sent Alan Jones messages wishing him the best for the holidays after two alleged indecent assaults because he was being polite. The complainant was questioned why he sent Mr Jones well wishes over the Christmas holidays several months after the last alleged incident. The federal opposition has accused the government of not stumping-up enough support for workers in Whyalla in South Australia. Yesterday, the state and federal governments announced a $10.2 million-dollar package to help the hundreds of workers in the steelmaking town who are losing their jobs because the blast furnace is shutting down. And One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson says she didn't mean to upset anyone by calling Indigenous Australians the "most primitive race on Earth" and regrets saying that. Resurfaced comments on a conservative podcast last year questioning what First Nations Australians have contributed to the country have been widely criticised and called derogatory and racist.
