Prominent Democrats Should Start Apologizing for This Mess of a Nation

from Walter Rhein Podcast · host Walter Rhein

I’m tired of people sharing those memes that say, “so and so was right about everything.”Well, they weren’t right about figuring out what they needed to do to win a campaign, so I guess “everything” is clearly a stretch.I’m sick and tired of people acting like we have to treat our elected leaders with reverence. When did we start doing that? When did we forget that they are our servants. Their job is to SERVE us, not oppress, exploit, and eventually murder us.We shouldn’t have to live in hovels with our backs constantly against the wall. Our children shouldn’t have to go underground to flee the incessant calls and letters from creditors. We shouldn’t have to go bankrupt because of a broken arm.Our leaders did this to us. All of them. Both sides of the aisle. Yeah, I’m talking about the ones who managed to turn their time in office into a portfolio worth in excess of a hundred million dollars.Do I hear two hundred million dollars? These are the same people who have the nerve to send us texts asking us all for money.“Hi, I’m the author of all your misery. Can you help me out with a $20 donation? I’ll give that money to one of our openly racist consultants, and if we don’t win the election we’ll blame you. Oh, and we won’t lift a finger to stop vote suppression either.”They expect us to stand and applaud for them. Why? What have they ever done for us?Yeah, the Republicans are worse, but the Democrats do it too. What we need now is a moment of contrast. Do you know what I’d like to see?I’d like to see a little bit of accountability.Democrats want to establish themselves as different than the Republicans? Fine, how about if they humbly found a camera, looked into it and said, “I apologize.”“I’m sorry that we squandered the power the voters gave us. I’m sorry we failed to create a better society. I’m sorry we never lifted a finger to stop the rise of a propaganda empire. I’m sorry we never asked for even a single recount. I’m sorry we don’t do anything to stop vote suppression of any kind. I’m sorry we don’t defend education. I’m sorry that we’ve repeatedly blamed the voters even after they’ve given us the power to make significant changes.”Case in point, 2020 election. Voters gave Democrats the House, the Senate, and the Presidency. All they had to do was prosecute.“I’m sorry we don’t hold Republicans accountable when they violate the law.”This is what I want out of the new generation of politicians. How about that? How about if we prosecute somebody for child rape even when they’re rich and famous? How about if we arrest people for crimes even when they’re the president? It’s in the founding documents. It’s called “rule of law.” It’s a good idea. Let’s try it.It’s time for us to cut the reverence out of politics. The former presidents who are still alive should come forward and apologize. There should be no joy or celebration even if we somehow manage to win what’s sure to be a rigged midterm election. What’s there to celebrate? The innocent girls in Iran will still be dead. Alex Pretti, Nichole Good, and Keith Porter will still be dead. The innocent people in Venezuela who were killed in the terrorist raid will still be dead. You can’t bring those people back. The pain inflicted by the crimes of these times isn’t going to be erased. It shouldn’t ever have happened. If there’s a win, I want a decade of silence and not one single cheer or clap for the Democrats. They are complicit. They allowed this to happen. Every administration sat on the Epstein files for decades. There is a fundamental rot in this country. The people of other nations don’t become enthusiastic at the horror and depravity of war. Most countries will not engage in war unless it’s a matter of their very survival.Meanwhile, the United States blows up schools just to feel good about itself. They do it for “fun.” Abusive men sit at bars nodding to themselves and muttering, “they should have complied,” then they go home to beat their wives. This nation is sick. Those are people dying with those bombs we send. Reprehensible, failed politicians come on television to smirk and say it was necessary. Those are lives lost you monster. War is just mass murder by another name.We refuse to buy our own kids breakfast, but we’ll dump billions into bombs dropped on the innocent. And our former presidents expect us to meet them with applause and cheer?“Boo!” They’re monsters all. We’re looking at an epic failure. We live in a police state. We work and send money to cruel men who are driven by hate. They use those funds to build bombs and burn books. This didn’t change in November of 2024, we just got the same only more. What we’re living through right now, never should have happened. It’s the culmination of many lifetimes of failure. It’s entitlement, ease, hubris, and apathy. Our public servants are complicit in every single atrocity. All of them. It’s time to show them the door.Kids die in far off lands and Americans cheer. Harmony and compassion are ideas children are taught to fear. There’s not a single leader alive today that deserves respect in any way. They can still salvage some honor if they stand up and say, “I’m sorry America, I was wrong.”Real leaders lead with accountability. That hasn’t been a part of our political ecosystem for far too long. You all make this newsletter happen! Thanks for your sponsorship!
