Proverbs 3:3 RA Bind Them & Write Them

from Bragging On Jesus · host Podcast startup by Robin Aylor

Proverbs 3:3 Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. Faithful & Steadfast We Bind And Write
RA Solomon has been writing to his Sons about remembering his words and obeying them from the heart… and even how doing so will be for their own good… Now he gives them some practical ways of thinking about keeping this kind of a commitment. If you have ever started a diet or maybe an exercise program, you know it's a lot easier to plan than to follow through on. Reading a book can be difficult for some, much less writing a book, or writing a song, beginning a bible reading plan, learning a foreign language, becoming efficient on a musical instrument or getting a college degree. Etc and etc…   Few are faithful and steadfast to follow through on things that are both important and yet difficult. Those who do, tape pictures on their refrigerators, stick post it notes on the dashboards of their cars, set related information as lock screens on their phone; they play like minded audio through their ear phones, repeat, replay, recite, watch, relate, research, write down, converse, discuss, blog and pray. The passions of their heart are on their mind constantly and come to play a part in influencing their decisions at work… in relationships… in their home life… how they spend their money… even the programs they watch on tv…
I suppose the question each person asks is what is most important to me… What is my passion in life? What is worth being paramount overriding and helping to focus every area of my life? Is it my favorite hobby? Will that lead all my thought patterns? Will I work everything in life… even family time all around my job? Will my family be number one purpose for being born and living during my short time in the span of eternity? Or… is there something greater than everything else which by placing at the forefront which makes all these other great things in life the best they can be also?

In Matthew 22 Jesus was asked this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”   The Lord Jesus Christ should be at the top of every list we have in life. Do you have that desire? You can probably tell by looking at how you spend your time or even how you spend your money. Are his words bound around your neck? Are they strapped to your backpack? Are they written down on your iPad or tablet? Or more importantly are they written down on the tablet of your heart. Today let's begin intentionally seeking to know God better through Jesus; and with the Holy Spirits help we will be faithful to love God with all our heart and steadfast to love our neighbor as ourself.
