Proverbs 9: Two invitations from Wisdom and Folly
from Dad Reads the Word Hosted by Sam Gardner
In Proverbs 9, Wisdom and Folly are set side by side: Wisdom builds her house, prepares a feast, and calls from the heights of the city, inviting the simple to come eat and "leave your simple ways, and live." The mocker resents being rebuked, while the wise person welcomes it. Proverb's central theme is reiterated—"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom." Folly & Wisdom both offer a path, both offer an invitation: the difference is where their path leads—Wisdom's path leads to life, Folly's path leads to death. Memory Verse: Proverbs 9:10 The fear of Yahweh (the LORD) is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Scripture reading is from the World English Bible.
