Proverbs: Focus on the Wisdom of Women I Handmaidens, Harems, Heroines I Lynne Wilson

What can Proverbs and Ecclesiastes teach us about the women of the Bible—and why does recognizing their voices, wisdom, strength, and influence matter? In this episode of Women in the Old Testament, Lynne Hilton Wilson explores the books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, uncovering the many ways women appear throughout these fascinating books of wisdom literature. From Woman Wisdom and the warnings surrounding the “strange woman” to the powerful mother who counsels King Lemuel and the remarkable woman of valor in Proverbs 31, women are woven throughout the teachings and poetry of these ancient texts.Lynne invites us to look more carefully at the women in Scripture—not simply as background characters, but as teachers, mothers, leaders, examples, symbols of wisdom, and people whose experiences help us better understand the biblical world. Proverbs even personifies wisdom itself as a woman, while the closing poem celebrates a woman whose strength, intelligence, industry, compassion, and faithfulness are worthy of praise. Why are women sometimes overlooked when we read the Bible? What happens when we slow down and intentionally look for them? And what can these ancient women teach both women and men today?Join Lynne Hilton Wilson as she helps us rediscover the women of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes and reminds us why women's stories belong at the center of our study of Scripture.#LynneHiltonWilson #WomenInTheBible #OldTestament #Proverbs #Ecclesiastes #BibleStudy #WomenOfTheBible #Scripture #Proverbs31 #WomanOfValor
