There were racial divisions and vilification of groups like the Samaritans and segregation and political strife between the Pharisees and Sadducees, the Herodians, Essenes and Zealots, the taxing isolating culture against the sick, the poor and homeless and in the midst of all this, Jesus comes on the scene and starts his preaching ministry speaking love God, love yourself and love others.
