Psalm 131: Hearts Quietly Lifted to the LORD
from Sharper Iron from KFUO Radio
Psalm 131 finds its home in the psalms of ascent as a short text that takes a long time to learn. David refuses to lift his heart or eyes in pride above the LORD, recognizing that those good things which the LORD has given in His Word are a refuge for him. In God’s Word, David and all Christians have a quiet place of refuge and nourishment. In the LORD, Christians have a hope that does not disappoint, now or forever. Rev. Sean Kilgo, pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lawrence, KS, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Psalm 131. To learn more about Redeemer Lutheran, visit redeemer-lawrence.org. Join Sharper Iron this summer to study selected Psalms. In the Psalter, God speaks His Word to us and teaches us how to speak back to Him in prayer. Even in the great variety of the Psalms, each one points us to our Savior, Jesus Christ. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: [email protected]
