As a church family, one of our annual rhythms is to use the new year as a soft reset. A short season of pause, reflection, and recommitment to Jesus as King (and Shepherd) of our lives. Psalm 23 is a cherished pieces of Christian music/poetry because it so clearly connects us to God as guide, protector, and provider. The main character of this Psalm is not the sheep - it is the Shepherd. This important fact serves to recenter Jesus as the main character of "our" lives in 2023.
