Psalm 29: The Voice Of The Lord

Thunder over the sea. Lightning in the sky. Wind stripping the forest bare. Psalm 29 doesn’t treat these as background noise, it treats them as a megaphone for God’s greatness. We walk through David’s words line by line and sit with the repeated phrase that drives the whole psalm: “the voice of the Lord.” The goal isn’t to get spooky or mystical, it’s to get awake to what God is already revealing about Himself and to let worship rise out of that awareness. We also talk about the world David lived in, a polytheistic culture that spread power across many little gods.
