Psalm 65: A God Of Power & Provision

Psalm 65. David calls all men to praise God. He begins by describing a God who hears the prayers of the needs and concerns of men. God has the right to destroy us as soon as we sin, but He offers atonement. God has chosen you to bless just as God chose David to be king and Israel to be His people. After we atone with God, we are credited with righteousness. We become a part of the awesome court of heaven. Mountains were made during great upheaval. God made mountains when breaking open the waters of the flood. God uses mountains to describe our prayer. Faith can move mountains. If we knew the power of who we are praying to, our praying would change. The oceans are another geographical wonder and God can still the waves. We can do nothing against the power of water storms, but to God it is nothing. The people are afraid of the One who can do such signs with mountains and seas. The end of the psalm changes direction from a powerful God to a God who also gives gentle provision. He is a God who brings fear and thankfulness.
