Psalm 81: God Responds To Worship

from DHBChurch.org

Psalm 81. God does not just respond to our prayers, but to our worship. Is your worship a sweet smelling aroma that God wants to take a deep breath of? Asaph instructs to come joyfully before the Lord and not moping because you’re in captivity or had a bad day. Verse 8-9, he warns about the falling into the same sin that got them into captivity: worshiping foreign gods. Verse 10, he wants us to trust and hunger for the Lord like a baby bird that opens its beak to be fed. Verse 13-14 if Israel had obeyed the Lord, he would have subdued their enemies rather than give them over to them. Verse 16, the Lord feeds them wheat (bread) and honey (preserved sweetness). He wants us to remember the goodness God gave which is the source of our joy. Christians are not satisfied because they are not pursuing God.
