Psalmist/Author/Songwiter Lisa Johnson stops by Good Deeds w/ Dr. Renee Sunday
from Dr. Renee Sunday's show · host Dr. Renee Sunday Show Podcast
Born into a musical family, Lisa Johnson, a very gifted singer/songwriter/psalmist and author, discovered her talent for writing and singing at the age of two. Even at that age, she was able to absorb music and lyrics instantaneously and loved to sing. Her greatest inspiration falls into the hands of her parents who were members of gospel quartet groups that travel abroad throughout the state of Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama. As a teenager, Lisa displayed her musical talents by participating in talent show competitions, musicals and plays. It was then that she realized the value of her singing ability and won many first place recognition awards. As she continued to write, she also began to focus on putting together songs for her first studio recorded gospel album entitled This Time - a personal CD that has the ability to capture the listener with its soulful contemporary songs and heartfelt lyrics. Lisa is now back with her sophomore gospel album entitled How I Made It Through which shows not only growth and character within her writing and vocal ability, but also the fun side of her. This album is guaranteed to keep you moving as well as in worship. You can take a test drive of the single ‘Shout About It’ at http://lisaajohnson.reverbnation.com In 2010 Lisa started a community magazine From Lisa’s Corner. The Magazine which is designed to make known those talents and dreams that no one has noticed or forgotten within the community. One being a book of poetry entitled Diary of Expressions with her husband Jerome Johnson, Sr. (2003) and the other entitled Raising A Proverbs 31 Woman Self-Esteem, Self-Worth, And Self-Discovery Of A Young Woman with LaTracey Copeland-Hughes (2014).
