In Psalms 78 we have a great outlining of the history of Israel for the benefit of the next generation. It also tells of how God rejected Ephraim because of its failure to lead and do what God said, and selected Judah because it took up what Ephraim failed to do. Ephraim was the leadership of Joshua, which didn’t conquer the land, but Judah was the leadership of David, who did conquer the land.
