It is deeply dependent on metabolic processes and hormonal regulation - systems that operate throughout the body but exert powerful influence on cognition, mood, and behaviour. This chapter explores how disturbances in these systems manifest neuropsychiatrically.In this episode, we examine how metabolic disorders - including inborn errors and acquired conditions - can alter brain function through disruptions in energy supply, toxin accumulation, or biochemical imbalance.
