Today's Case A 63-year-old male is brought in by ambulance to the emergency room for new onset weakness and confusion. His last known well time was 1 hour before presentation. He was having dinner with his family when suddenly he developed weakness and confusion, and the family called 911. He has a past medical history of type 1 diabetes, hypertension, and a strong family history of cerebral infarctions. He has not had any recent head trauma, major bleeding, strokes, or blood thinners. Today's Reader Ryan O'Connell is a junior biology major at Loyola Marymount University.
