Pt. 1 - What Do We Need?

from River of Life - Cold Spring Hosted by Pastor Kirby St. John

When Jesus asks a question in the Bible, it is easy to assume those around would make every effort to listen. He asked more questions then He answered, and often these questions caused many to be silent. A question He would often ask is what the person wanted, but He wasn't concerned about wants... He was concerned about needs. What is it that we need is what should drive us... and when we realize we need what the world cannot give, where do we turn? Tune in for this series!

You know, you ever just say, I share with the first service. You sit during times and your mind goes crazy places. Anybody know what I'm talking about? We're doing worship this morning.

And the first service, and I'm looking at the word hallelujah. I'm like, why do we have a J in hallelujah? Why is there a J? I know that's how you spell it.

But like, why? Who designed this concept of English? Like, we're going to put a J in here. We're going to make that silent.

It's going to be awesome. We're going to mess with every kid that's ever, you know, try to learn our language. You know, like, hallelujah. You know, like, no.

This is terrible. I shouldn't even share this one. But one of the some of my wife's looking at me like, don't 10. How do you want to hear it?

How do you want to hear it? There's a worship song that says, I throw up my hands. And I think if we ever lead a cannibal to the Lord, we're singing that one. Somebody who may sink in later, I throw up my hands.

I just ate somebody's hands. OK, anyway. All right. So if you ever know somebody who lead a Lord and they're a cannibal, he starts singing that song.

Maybe you'll get rid of some of the stuff that's in their system. I think, well, sometimes you think, like, we have a visitor coming in like, we're singing the blood, the blood, the blood. Oh, the marvelous blood of the game. They must think we're really weird.

You know, like, we're a blood of Jesus. And they're like, these people like blood. That is the weirdest thing ever. Anyway, sorry.

I'm way off. You're like, yes, you're way off. You're a few marble short of something. Yeah, we're going to start a new series.

This morning, we'll probably maybe skip in it next week with Mother's Day, but we'll kind of jump back in. We're going to start a series called The Questions Jesus Asked. If you've spent a ton of time, as a reading the Bible, just realize how many questions Jesus asked. I mean, over and over and over again, he's asking questions.

And so we're going to dive into some of those. What's really is Jesus asked more questions than he answered the questions asked of him. A lot of times he was asked questions. Instead of answering the question, he would ask another question.

And he'd give people the thing, he'd give people the process, he'd give people to wonder what's going on. You know, that they say of all of the questions that Jesus was asked in Scripture. You know how many of them he answered directly was three of them. Of all the questions he's asked in Scripture, he answers three of them directly.

It's really interesting to process through and to walk through. He'd have been an incredible parent, right? And what are we going to do tonight? Is your homework done?

You know, like, okay, we can handle this right now. You know, like, right babe? Macaya? Right?

Like, what are you doing? Is your homework done? Like, it's not answering the question, it's asking another question, right? You know, instead of answering a question, he would ask a question back.

Religious learners of the day didn't really like Jesus. And many times they're trying to trap him and they're trying to get him to go down a road that he would ask a question thinking, oh, we've got him trapped by what he's going to say. And he would ask another question, or doesn't say this. And he would just get people.

And then they'd kind of walk away. They would get frustrated. They would kind of get you. The thing that always intrigued me was that he wouldn't argue back with people.

But he would make a statement. He would just simply ask a question. I think we can learn a lot from Jesus the way he handled conflict. The way he handled things.

He'd just ask another question, make him think and make him process. Instead of arguing about things. How many times was he asked a question that was related but would leave them walking away because they knew they were out smarted. And you look at even Jesus' sermons.

Many times he would ask questions that would cause you to think a little bit deeper. And what he was trying to say. When he would tell parables or stories, many times he would ask questions and not just tell you but make you think as well. There's power, that's in a question that's getting us right to answer something.

There's a little bit more power in that. He was a master at asking questions. We could pick up a lot of simply just asking questions in life especially with people that don't agree with us. Just listening to them and asking the question and making them think a little bit deeper.

So a lot of times he would talk to individuals and as he's talking to individuals he would ask questions with them engaging with them and asking them things. He would cause people to think, check themselves. It would bring times to bring out the motive of what they're really wanting. And sometimes they were provoking and sometimes they were challenging and some were rhetorical.

Some of the questions would be healing and forgiveness and wholeness and direction. If you look at the gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. That's kind of where in the Bible it's the New Testament, the first four books. If you don't aren't familiar with the Bible.

It's the first four books of the New Testament. And that's where it kind of describes Jesus in that area there's 307 recorded questions that Jesus asked, 307. And so we're gonna spend a few weeks looking at the questions of Jesus and the questions he asked. It's gonna be a long series, six year series, 300 and seven.

No, I'm kidding, we're only gonna ask a few. I'm gonna be like really Kirby, we're out, we're going to another church. It's not gonna be that long, it's just a few weeks. We'll just kind of dive into some of the main questions he asked.

But why did Jesus ask questions instead of giving statements? I think questions cause you to think about things a little deeper than what a statement would do. A question will cause you to ponder what was asked instead of what was already programmed. And you're not even talking to someone.

You know they're not even listening to you and they're just ready for their statement. So if you ask a question, it causes them to have to not go back with what they've already prepared but it hasn't to think through what you've just asked. And I think that's what it does to a lot of us even today. And I think it's, as we walk through this, it causes to think deeper.

And a question will cause you to ponder what was asked instead of what was already programmed. As Americans we like to talk and not necessarily think and process sometimes. It's one of the questions he's asked people in a few different ways I would say he's asking I think today the same question is, what do you want? You ask people the question, what do you want?

What do you want? What do you want me to do for you? I mean all of these things, the question can change your life. That question can literally transform your life.

And my question is, what would be simply, do you want me to do? What do you want me to do? What are you looking for? In all the reality you're going through life accumulating things, right?

We're going through life, we're trying to figure all the stuff that we want, we're buying it, we're trying to get through our degree, we're trying to get through our stuff, we're walking through the process, going to work, trying to raise your kids, all the stuff that, but do you really know what you want? Do you really know what you want? When he asks a question, he never, and I love this about Jesus, he never asked out of ignorance. He knew the answer to the question before he even asked.

And he knows the answer as he asked you the same question this morning, he isn't asking me because he has this magic wand he's going to wave over you with this genie in a lamp, and it's in a lamp, right? The genie's in, I'm like, it never seems to be, it doesn't look like a lamp to me. I'm like, I don't know why, but you know, the genie in the bottle, whatever, and it comes out and it's through, that's not what he's going to do, that's not who he is, it's not just, this genie's just, he asks a question of what do you want because he's trying to get to the core of something inside of you, what's beneath the surface this morning that God needs to work in or work on? What's your real motivation?

What do you think you need but you really don't need? What's driving the decisions you're making? Is it fear? Is it anxiety?

Let's get into what's really bothering you. Why would you, why do you keep making excuses for not following through with what you said you would do? What are some things that are a little bit deeper that are going on than just the basic thing? What's really going on inside of you?

What's your hard motivation that you have? You see, Jesus asked us this morning, what do you need? What do you really need to get out of the funk you're in? The breakthrough that hurt or pain?

What do you want this morning? Sometimes he would even ask the question a little bit different, like, what do you want me to do for you? So this is what separates Christianity from all other religions. I think it's pretty amazing that Jesus will ask the question of, hey, what do you want me to do?

Where all the religions are saying, hey, here's what you can do for me. Jesus said, hey, what can I do for you? He wants to walk into your world and your situation. So here's a God that loves and cares about the things you wrestle with, cares about.

So this morning, let's look at Mark 10. There are two times he asked this question, what do you want? What's interesting is that the author of the book of Mark is putting these stories back to back. There's things are happening back to back here.

So we're going to read through both stories and both accounts here. Here's what it says in Mark 10, 35. This is a crazy verse to me. Here's what it says.

Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him, teacher, they said, we want you to do for us whatever we ask. Really? We got to read the Bible and go, what were you guys thinking right now? Hey, by the way, we want you to do what we want you to do, Jesus, whatever we want you to do.

It's kind of a crazy thought. It's kind of a crazy thing yet. I would say this. Who does it sound like?

Us. I mean, they're sitting with Jesus, literally Jesus, the Son of God. And they're going, hey, we got some things, Jesus. We want to ask.

I mean, they have some guts right here. And we want you to do some things for us in this moment, in this struggle, whatever else we're doing. We want you to do some things. And they're walking through.

And it sounds like a lot of times, we walk around saying, God, well, here's what you're going to do for me. And if you don't, I'm finally even. I'm done. I'm out.

I can't really trust because he doesn't do what I want him to do. And that's basically what he's telling. We want you to do some things for us. And so we haven't changed much over 2,000 years, have we?

Two of Jesus closest friends. They're coming to him telling him what they want for him to do. Think about this. Your kids, what if your kids came to you and said, hey, Dad, here's what I want you to do for me.

OK? What do you want me to do? Go clean my room. I mean, that's going over real well.

But that's kind of what's going on. I'm like, hey, here's what I want you to do. And Jesus has a way better response than I would. And he kind of does it.

He says, Mark 1036, what do you want me to do for you? He asked. See, we have the God of the universe. And these two men are coming to him demanding that Jesus does whatever they ask him to do.

And instead of Jesus getting mad, he just simply asks a question. And they replied, one of us said that you're right, and the other at your left, and in your glory. And he says, you don't know what you're asking. You don't get it.

You don't quite get this. You don't understand. You don't quite get what we're going. And then Jesus said, can you drink the cup I drink?

Or are you baptized with the baptize with? And they go, yeah, we can. They don't even know what Jesus is about ready to go through. They don't even know.

And they answered, you know, we can't. They answered Jesus. He said to them, oh, yeah, you can't do it. Okay, you will.

By the way, you will drink the cup. Then I'm about ready to go. Why 11 of the 12 disciples actually were killed for their faith, just like Jesus was. And that wasn't because they didn't try to kill the other one.

So you want to drink the cup? I'm about ready to go to the grave. I'm about ready to go to beat down. I'm ready to go to cross and die and cross.

The man kind of sin. And you want to drink the same cup? And they're like, yeah, we can do that. They don't even know what they're talking about.

And then they go down to say, but the sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom have been prepared. And when the 10 heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. You know, they asked the question, you ready to go through with what I'm ready to go through.

And they're both going to die. And I didn't choose who sits there. It's not my, I don't get to do that. And then it says, but when the 10 heard, the crazy requests, they get frustrated.

And I'm sure with James and John, but also probably with themselves, like, why didn't we think of that? What? They asked if they could be next to Jesus. How come we didn't think of that?

Now what a great thought that could have been us. In the book of Matthew, I love this account. The same story of the same. Here's what is in Matthew chapter 20.

This is even crazier. This is another level. 2021, then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Jesus with her sons and kneeling down, asked a favor of him. What is it you want?

Yes. She said, grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom. Dude, how crazy. Mom's there too.

Right? Mom shows up with her two grown sons. And they're like, hey, mom comes and go, hey, you know, Jesus, let's go bow down here. I got some questions.

Here's the greatest ever. But hey, I question. When we get to get to heaven, could you, you know, my boy's going to hang out with you a little bit. I mean, a mom's on the bed.

Doesn't sound like any different from mom's today. Does it? Something like that's kind of me, right? You kind of insert your place when maybe you don't need to be inserted.

That's kind of what we do. Mama's stepping in. Kind of sounds like some of us. Can you picture?

She walks up, kneels down, two boys grown men. Says, I've got a favorite ask. What is it you want? The amount of patience here is pretty awesome.

I'd respond to no. That's not happening. That's not what Jesus does. Let's look at this.

What do you think the motivation is behind these questions? You ever think about that? What is the motivations behind the questions they're asking Jesus? The things are, hey, can we sit at your right and your left?

The sons want power. They want position. They want and they think they can handle the responsibility. Second time Jesus asked the questions in Mark 10.

It's right after this. Says, then they came to Jericho as Jesus and his disciples together with a large god, relieving the city of blind man, Bartimaeus, which means son of Timious, was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard what that, it was Jesus of Nazareth. Nazareth, he began to shout, Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me.

Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more. Son of David, have mercy on me. Jesus stopped and said, call him. So they called to the blind man.

Cheer up. He was like, I just read the bible, so I'm like, really, that's what the words you use? Cheer up, buddy. It's gonna be your day.

The man wants to see you. You know, like, on your feet, he's calling you and throwing his cloak his eye and jumped to his feet and he came to Jesus. What do you want me to do for you? Jesus asked.

The blind man said, Rabbi, I want to see. Go, said Jesus, your faith has healed you. Immediately he received his side and followed Jesus along the road. Is that an interesting question here?

Jesus asked the person that's blind. What do you want me to do? I always thought that was just an intro question, it seems obvious, almost a dumb question, but we need to understand that Jesus never asks a question out of ignorance. He asks a question because of our ignorance.

He asks a question like, hey, what do you want me to do? He wants to see a little of what's going on inside. He wants to see, you know, you know, you know what's interesting about these two stories, I think is everyone except Jesus and the stories is blind. One physically, the others in their understanding and only one of them realizes it.

James and John are blinded by power and the reputation, the other disciples are blinded by jealousy. Mom is blinded by fear, so she over-parents. The people that are telling the blind men to be quiet are blinded by pride. They get annoyed by someone who's calling out to Jesus.

Then there's Bartimaeus who's actually blind. He's the only one that realizes he has an issue. We're underneath it, all there's a lot of other issues that are going on. And Jesus' question in both these stories basically exposes everyone else's issue.

So when Jesus asks us the question today, it's an opportunity to admit our own blindness, our moments where we don't get it, where we don't understand, where we don't have it. He knows exactly what we need, but the real question is this morning is do we? Do you know what you need? Do you know what you really need?

Do you know what you really need? Not what you want, but do you know what you really need this morning? It's a lot of times we don't even realize what we need. We know what we want, but we don't know what we need because there's a big difference between what we want and what we need.

I can tell you a lot of things about what you want. If I ask you for a list of ones, right, we'll go out the back door, we'll have like this, I want this, I want this, I want this, I want this, right? But just go to your search engine, your Facebook marketplace, your Pinterest. Yeah, I know what that is.

I don't want it, but I know what it is. And it'll tell you what you want, right? But Jesus asks them what do they want, but in the question is helping us understand what we need. This level's answer was power and position authority, and that wasn't what they needed.

They needed their identity found in Jesus, not in a position. Power doesn't make you somebody important. Position won't really help. If you've lost your identity, it only will cause bigger issues in your life, why?

Because when you get power, you only want more. It doesn't give you what you really need. Why do you have a desire to feel noticed by others? You ever wonder that?

Why is that so consuming to so many of us? I just want to be noticed. I just want to be noticed. People can't get what you value.

Our value can only come from knowing, connecting with our creator. The rest will always keep us longing for more and not satisfied. And we just got to get more things and more stuff. And people know who we are.

Jesus asked them up, what do you want? She wants them to have position. She wants them to be safe and have influence. But what she really needs to understand is the trust that Jesus is going to take care of everything.

She doesn't have to have a position to do this. She's asked, Mom, what do you want? She's trying to leverage her influence. Even look at her fake humility as she bows down.

She's trying to get her way in. She needs to understand she's speaking the one who gives life and life to the full. Need to like opposition us in his time and in his way. And so many times we try to do the opposite.

We try to position ourselves so that other people can see us and other people will notice us. And we're looking at always to get positioned to be seen. And we say we want to be used by God or used in this way or how this opportunity. But it's really just trying to get everyone to notice who we are.

Rather than what's really going on on the inside. What we need to know is sometimes he hides us and sometimes he brings us forward. But either way it's just called not mine. And anytime I try to maneuver myself into position that God didn't want for me, it never turns out good.

Never turns out how I'd hoped. God isn't into being influenced by us or by our moms. That's wonderful. We all have things we want, but we really have things that we need.

And Jesus is more than to mean your needs over your wants. I need to be healed. Yeah, somebody in the room, you need to be healed. We need a miracle.

Yeah, but there are some other things you need more than that. I don't know if I need, yeah, maybe there are. I remember the story of Derken Ashley. And Ashley, if you didn't know of the first people you'd worship her and her husband, she has breastfeedal, stage four, cancer, nothing they can do.

And they would say the process for her that they went through once they found out was more healing than actually healing itself. What God was doing in them in the process and how he was drawing them and working in them was way more, but when they started out, they're like, God, we just need to be healed. But what happened more than just the healing that God ultimately did was the process of what God wanted to do in them in the process of getting them. Yeah, but I think about this, I want to be free, yeah, but what about becoming dependent on me first?

I'll be free from this addiction, yeah, but what if you just become dependent on me? And so some of you are looking for freedom, but the real thing you really need is to be learn how to be dependent on him. And if you can become dependent on him, you'll get your freedom. But you want the freedom without any work, you want the freedom without having to walk through the pain, without having to walk through the struggle, without walking through the power, he's going, no, I know what you need because if I bring your freedom right now, without doing any of the work, you're gonna be right back where you were just a few months ago.

We want the easy way, no work, no struggle, but what we need is people of endurance. Do you know how you build endurance in your life? If I know you go through tough times, that aren't easy, that's how you build endurance. Romans 35, three through four, not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance.

Oh, thanks a lot, God, can you just give me endurance? No, we're gonna go through some things. And endurance produces what? Character.

And character provides hope, see, I remember when I was young, you guys remember back when you were young at all? And they'd say, hey, we're gonna go running. I mean, no, that's a terrible idea. Like whoever invented running, they needed like, yeah, it's probably God, but besides that, I got you to do great, but besides the whole running thing.

If I remember when I was a kid, they'd be like, all right, we're just gonna run, we're gonna run around the block. And I'll be like, okay, and I'll be like, you know what? And I get about this far, and I'll be like, oh, my side hurts. And then I'll talk about like, oh, the pain, my side, what's going on?

Like, I don't know if I can fight through this. I don't know if I can do this. And like, when the moment pain started, the moment my chest started, the moment I couldn't breathe, I'm like, I'm out. And guys, I know in order to become a great runner, you gotta get yourself through something, and I would never become a great runner, but for some reason my son loves to run, and I pray for him.

You know, we wanna be great and noticed, but we really need to figure out how to be faithful. How do you learn faithfulness? Doing what's right when no one celebrates you? But doing right when right isn't getting you anywhere.

You do right because it's right now, because it's easy. So you say, I want my desires to be met now. That's how we live, right? We live in this culture.

But what we need is character and patience. Not our desires to be met. We live in this fast food, Google search, society where we get our food right now, we get our answers right now, but that's not how life works. It doesn't go like that.

And so to go through the process of developing character and developing patience. You know how you become more patient? Is it not? But not get what you want when you want it.

That's why I waited. Does you wanna become more patient? You don't get what you want when you want it. Don't get the answer.

You know, that's how you become more patient. You're like, oh, how many more patient? No, I don't if you wanna pray that. Cause then you go through some things that cause you to have to be patient.

Have to go through some things that gets you there. Can we just keep being obedient until it happens? So we want safety and security for us and our families, but maybe what we need is that faith. How do you build faith by seeing what is not there?

It's like seeing a breakthrough or healing, but you're still in the middle of the struggle. It's like saying, hey, I'm in the middle of this battle. We're in a financial crisis and I'm in the middle of it, but I can see myself on the other side. I can see myself through it.

That's what faith is. Here's what faith is though. Faith is dangerous. It's not safe.

Having faith takes your mind and your abilities and your trust in God to another level is faith isn't safe. But yeah, so many times that's what we want. We want security, we want safety. And God's saying, I never called you to be safe.

I called you to live a life of faith and to trust in who I am. It's being generous when you'd rather hold on to what you have. It's doing the right thing instead of what you want to do. It's decided to be obedient instead of giving an temptation.

Faith isn't safe. So you want to be successful, but maybe we need to be a servant. If you want to be successful, you serve according to scripture. What does Jesus come to you?

He came to serve Mark 10. In between these two stories, here's what it says. But it shall not be so among you, but whoever would be great among you must be your servant. And whoever would be first among you must be a slave of all.

For even the Son of Man came out not to be served, but to serve. He's in the middle of the two stories. Hey, here's what I want you to do for me. Hey, Jesus, I have mercy on me.

He's in the middle of the two stories. And what does he say? Oh, really we need you to be as a servant. So it's going to get you through the first, it'll be the last, the last will be the first.

Keep your life, you want to keep your life, you'll lose it. See, we live in a culture where we live to get what we want instead of trying to live our life for what we truly need. We're just trying to go after what we want. Instead of really working on what we truly need, we live in a culture where we pursue things we want over making tough decisions and living by convictions.

We chase what we want, not what God wants. Let me ask you this morning, you come to Jesus with an agenda this morning. Or just coming to know him. You see the disciples were coming with an agenda.

Really the blind man, his tone, son of David, have mercy on me. Two different ways of coming to Jesus. One asking him to do something. The other, would you please show me a little bit of mercy today?

God, here's some things I'm expecting. God, have mercy on me. I'm broken, I need help. I'm just in the middle of this spot.

See the hard posture is completely different. So a lot of times your approach will determine the outcome. A lot of times your approach will determine the outcome. Not always, but a lot of times as you come, like God, I just, I don't have it all figured out.

I got all these things I want, but God, what is it? You need. What does it you want to do inside of me? What does it you want to do in my life?

The first story shows ignorance to their situation. The other acknowledges their desperate need. Most of the time when we pray, we tell God what we want. But the heart, if the heart process is right, there's nothing wrong with that.

In fact, Philippians 4, 6, and 7 says, do not be anxious about anybody, anybody, every situation, my prayer and perdition, my prayer and perdition, my prayer and perdition, your request to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds and Christ Jesus. It's okay to ask for what you want, but then ask this question. God, here's all the things I want.

But God, will you show me what I need? When's the last time you prayed that prayer? God, will you just show me what I need? Can we show me the character I need to develop?

Because some of you are like, I want my marriage to get better. And God could do this. In a flip of an instant, he could make your marriage better. The problem is this, is if he does it for some of you, you haven't worked through some of the things that are in your life and your marriage will be back in problem in another month or two.

Because he wants to do what you need to work you, how you treat people, how you treat your spouse, the way you talk to somebody, the way you go through it. He says, some of you are like, we just need a miracle in our finances. And the problem is, some of you, you do need a miracle. Some of you are not of your fault that you're there.

And he could do a miracle in my job. Yes, but some of you, if all of a sudden, God got rid of all your bills and all your debt, all your stuff, you'd be back into the same debt that you're in right now because you don't know how do you do your finances. And so he's going, I know that's what you want. And I know I want to get you there at some point.

But I really want you to do is I want you to walk through this process of learning some things. So that when we're done with this, we don't have to go through this again. See, there's this process of going, hey, I know what you want and you want to do what you want. Our great and great things.

But in the process of some other work that needs to take place so you can get to where you want. Does that make sense this morning? Like we want healing, yes, we want healing a relationship, yes, but there's got to be work here. There's got to be a time where you come back home.

Hey, the other way I've been treating you. I'm sorry, I messed it up. I've treated you like garbage for the last 10 years of our relationship, I'm so sorry. It's gonna be a moment where God works in you like that, where he humbles you a little bit so you can get to where you have a great relationship.

So where you can get to have freedom, where you get, does that make sense? Some of you say, Kirby, I just want to be free from this addiction, yeah, that's great. But if he sets your free this morning, will you be back there tomorrow? Some of you know, because I've watched him do it.

There just needs to be a process that he's taking you through to get to your freedom. Both are great. Most of us just want to now, now, now, now. We don't like the struggle, we don't like the process.

This morning he's going, I think somebody always needs to take through a little bit of a process. Some of you, I hope, that we pray in a second, that will be instant. Some of you, I know our need of physical need, pray will be instant. For some of you it's a relational need, I pray you'll go through the process.

Because the process will be a lot better in the end. Because we'll be healing that happens to you, and they'll be healing that happens in your life, so as you pray ask what you want, but then ask God to show you what you really need. God, do I need to be humbled? God, do I need to be forgiving?

Do I need? How do I need to live? What do I need to do? Who do I need to forgive?

What do I need to change? Let us see God the things that we can't see, just like the people in the story that we read today, they couldn't see. But yeah, there are still some things that I want to do that were a little bit deeper than what they even realized they needed. Cross this room, would you just stay on this morning?

I hope it made sense this morning. But you'd always ask questions, not to give them the answer, but to cause them to think deeper. And then he's asking the same question this morning, what do you want? What do you want?

Are you willing to go down the road to get what you want? Have to walk through some things, they're gonna be a little bit difficult, bring some endurance, bring some patience, bring some hope, bring some, you have to go through the journey sometimes to get there, some of you guys have been praying for some things for 15 or 20 years. And you've been going through the process, don't give up on the process. Because it doesn't mean he's not gonna happen, doesn't mean he's not gonna show up, it doesn't mean if not there, it's just it's still coming.

And so go through the process, God we're trusting you this morning. God we're believing for you this morning to show up in this room and show us some things that we need, some need healing. And God we know that. And so God we just pray that you bring healing in this room right now.

Got some need hope, some need deliverance, some need peace, got some need to re-change the way they think, cause the way they think is messed up. God I pray that you would take us through the process because that process is, it says to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. It's a process of you working on some things that change the way you think and the way you process. And so God help us.

God do not just have a list of wants, cause we all got them. But God that we would see what we need to be able to get through, to get to where we really wanna be. And so God just pray your presence, to pray your spirit over this room. Even right now as we sit in a room like this morning that you would begin to just walk the aisles, you begin to walk the roads, you begin to speak to people's hearts, even in this moment about some things that they, they got to you just know here, here's some things we need to work on.

We need to go down, we need to bring healing to it. Whatever it is. So God this morning as we stand here, God I pray that you just need us now. I'm here in this room right now and you say, Kirby there's some things that I've got going on in my life.

I got a bunch of wants, I'm not even sure necessarily what the, what God needs or what the needs, what I really need are. But you just say, God, what you just say, what you just show me this morning? Come on, you just say that's me. What you just show me?

What you just show me, what you show me? What you show me? God, we believe in God that is alive and well and active and that you're active in this moment. God, we pray right now over this room.

God that you'd make it aware, you'd show us you'd reveal some things. God for those, even now that you want to supernaturally do some things in this moment. God, we know you're able. So God, we ask that you do it right now.

Bring healing, bring hope, bring life, bring peace, bring joy, bring freedom. God, but in the process, if you're doing it through the process, let us get the process so we can get to the healing and you're looking to give us. So God, we ask in Jesus' name, how many cross the room will say, you know what, Kirby, I've never given my life to Jesus and Jesus is asking me this morning, what I want, I've been trying to do life by myself, I've been trying to figure it out and it hasn't worked and this morning I'm saying, God, I just want to give you a try. I want to give my life to you and say, God, I'm going to try you for a season.

I've never done this before, but today I want to give you a chance. Well, as you know, we love you so much. He sent this Sunday down to cross for you. How many say this to me across the room?

It says to me, yeah, anybody else? Anybody else? Anybody else? Here's what I want to do.

I want to give you a moment of reflection. If you want to come to an altar and respond that way, you can, the band is just going to sing the song halfway through this morning. If you want to do reflection in your chair this morning where you're at, that's fine. But God, what do we need?

What are you looking for me? Some of you are so desperate, you're just going to come to an altar and say, God, I'm just so desperate to figure this out. God, I'm so desperate for you to meet me. Maybe you're going to come as a sing.

But why don't we do this this morning just for a moment? You are so worthy, Lord, so worthy, Lord. You sing worthy, Lord. You're worthy now to receive power and wisdom and majesty.

Until you Christ our King, splendor and honor, return, lean the King now to receive power and wisdom and majesty. And unto you Christ our King, splendor and honor, return, lean your Yours for forever, Yours for, Yours for, Yours for, Yours for, Yours for, sing worthy, to receive it all, worthy, Lord. Worthy now, be saved, for, Lord, power and wisdom and majesty. From to you, O Lord, Christ our King, splendor and honor, return, return, lean your Lord.

It's all for your glory. God, we come this morning. God, some of us just have a need that weighs so heavy on our heart. God, a desire that just is so strong inside of us that, God, we don't even know what to do or how to walk through.

We've got to pray that you would begin to just bring healing and hope. God, you begin to walk through steps even now in this room, that you begin to say, Hey, all right, let's take this area. Let's take that area. God, this morning, we pray Your presence across this room.

Right now, that there be victory. That's we look out the road six months, there be moments that we look to you. And you showed up and you did some things that we look. God, that we went through the process on.

You got to pray even now there be testimony even this morning out of you walking into situations, even now the need hope in life. And God, pray for those that just raise their hands. I want to give my life to Jesus. God, I pray right now.

God, you would walk into it. Well, God, thank you for sending your son Jesus to down across for us. So we have hope and life eternal life. And so God, forgive us for the things we've messed up.

There's decisions we made. God, we give our life to you. We know we need you Jesus. And what you did the cross, we pray your blessing on this place.

We ask in Jesus name, in Jesus name. Amen. Well, thanks for coming. If you want some of the pray, we'll be around.

And otherwise, thanks for coming to be an apart. Have a great week.
