PT's Guide To Treating Patients Beyond What You Learned In PT School with Santi Villamil

from HEALTHCARE HACKS AND CONNECTIONS · host Santi Villamil, Nathan Navas

As a new grad PT, do you feel frustrated on how to treat patients beyond what you learn? Do you want to continue practicing clinical skills but there's only so much you can do within the limitations of your educational background? How can you think outside the box and be able to provide exceptional care without forgetting the clinical experience and guiding patients to achieve their goals?  Santiago “Santi'' Villamil is a Physical Therapist, ANF Therapy Holistic Practitioner, and Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is the owner of Wellness Hub in Gainesville, Florida where clients are empowered to take charge of their health. He’s also an instructor for ANF Pain and Holistic Courses for the ANF Academy, a mentor to PT students, and in July 2021 he launched continuing education courses for clinicians to understand and master different aspects of our profession in order to become a Primary Care Physical Therapist. His goal is to be your Clinical Educator, Mentor, and self-actualization guide to Bridge The Gap From Overwhelmed Student Physical Therapist To Confident Doctor of Physical Therapy This week’s Healthcare Hacks and Connection, Nathan Navas and Santi Villamil will talk about his philosophy of “Keep it simple, sweet and powerful.” And how to overcome the limitations of Physical Therapy treatment by thinking beyond in order to guide patients past an injury or towards achieving a new physical fitness goal. They will touch on such topics as:How to take an "outside thinker" approach to PT evaluation in order to create an individualized treatment plan for your goals. How overcoming the new grad PTs' struggle with decreasing reimbursement is a big challenge. People start to become more mindful of their “why” and whether they are serving their purpose.Don't lose who you are and your passion in treating your patients in healthcare, you can still make an impact in the healthcare system. Involving clients in the intervention process makes them better able to understand and improve upon their own health. What is the Art of Rehabilitation? Clinical freedom is the freedom to provide treatment that reflects the patient's best interests and needs.  Hack: Unleash your clinical intuition. P.S.
