“Defunding public media doesn’t punish NPR—it guts the emergency lifelines that small towns and Tribal communities depend on.” said  Rima Dael, CEO of National Federation of Community Broadcasters in an op-ed article for The Free Press.  As the headlines came in Friday night, the House gave the final approval to the Trump administration’s $9 billion rescission package that aimed to claw back money already allocated for public broadcasting and foreign aid spending at a 216-213 vote. This bill eliminates $1.1 billion in public media funding that has already been approved for the next two years.  KMUD spoke with Serah Mead, the Director of Member Engagement at NFCB.
