Public Health: Unmet Need for Rehab in Public Healthcare

from Health & Living · host BFM Media

If you’ve had a sports injury or some sort of joint pain, you’ve probably had to undergo physiotherapy. If you’re a stroke survivor, rehabilitation like occupational or speech therapy helps you recover functions for daily living. These are just some of the rehabilitation services that support millions of people to become as independent as possible following an injury or illness. (Globally, about 2.4 billion people are currently living with a health condition that benefits from rehabilitation.) Considering the burden in our society, there is a huge unmet need for rehabilitation services in the public healthcare sector. Azrul Mohd Khalib, CEO, Galen Centre for Health & Social Policy, and Dr Ahmad Munawwar Helmi Salim, founder of BeVital Physiotherapy Centre, join us to discuss the gaps that currently exist and how BeVital is looking to fulfil some of these needs.Image credit: ShutterstockSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
