Public meetings statewide will inform Alabamians about expanding broadband to underserved areas

from North American Network

Governor Ivey has launched a series of public meetings that will be held in all of Alabama’s 67 counties, over the next several months, to inform residents and businesses about expanding broadband to underserved areas—while also getting feedback about local Internet-access. Jamie Harding—of “A-A-R-P Alabama”—urges everyone to learn how broadband-expansion will benefit their own communities… “High-speed Internet is a vital utility. And, expanding it to underserved areas will bring more economic growth, jobs, educational opportunities, and access to remote healthcare. According to a recent survey that we conducted, more than eight-in-10 Alabamians over age-45 support a state action-plan to expand fair access to broadband. That’s why we encourage all residents to attend these public meetings—in order to share their own challenges with local Internet-access.” For more information—and to find out when each county’s meetings will be held—visit “a-d-e-c-a”-dot-“alabama”-dot-gov-slash-“broadband”.
