Puerto Rico Weather 3/7 Evening - Sunshine & Spotty Showers

from The Puerto Rico Weather Podcast

Good evening. Puerto Rico. I'm Michael Nally. That damp, heavy air this morning wasn't just humidity—it was the tail end of a Culebra streamer that dumped nearly two inches of rain on San Juan overnight. The metro area is mopping up while the west stayed bone dry. Classic March: one side of the island gets a shower, the other gets a sunburn. Down in Metro San Juan, scattered showers linger tonight with a before midnight. Lows stick to a muggy 75 degrees. Tomorrow, the sun plays hide-and-seek with afternoon highs hitting 81 degrees. Those trade winds are steady too, blowing 14 to 18 miles an hour with gusts to 25. Head south to Ponce and it’s a different world. Skies clear out tonight with lows near 73. But Sunday afternoon cranks the heat up to 88 degrees. Watch out for those gusts hitting 32 miles an hour—that's enough to turn your beach umbrella inside out if you're not careful. Out west in Rincón, you dodged the rain today, but the pattern flips Sunday afternoon. Scattered showers roll in after noon, bringing a a chance you'll need the umbrella by 3 P.M. Highs reach 86 degrees, but those showers could cool things off fast. In A quick warning for coast, life-threatening rip currents are hitting San Juan. Vieques. And Culebra through Monday. Unless you're a strong swimmer, today isn't the day to test the ocean. Small craft advisories are up everywhere with seas running 5 to 7 feet. Looking ahead, expect more of the same but windier. Trade winds howl at 15 to 20 miles an hour through Thursday with gusts to 30. The best chance for widespread rain comes Tuesday and Wednesday. If you're heading to the beach, keep one eye on the sky. That wind will snatch your hat right off your head. See you tomorrow.
