Purity: Elevating Bene Yisra'el to a Kingdom of Priests

Does the purity section of Vayiqra concern itself mostly with impurity reaching the miqdash, as the rabbis understand it, or does it also operate on the individual level no matter where one lives nor how close one is to the miqdash? In reality, it is a revolution in thought for purity, which was probably once temple-focused only, to permeate all aspects of basic human life, like eating, giving birth, disease, and sex.
