For me to withstand it, it makes you to hold your ground, not to compromise. It makes you to hold your ground against pressure, not to compromise, not to give in hope, not to lose in your faith. When trials or temptation come your weak. So when you put on the whole Amor of God, you will be able to stand against the wise, the tricks of the devil.
There are constant different ways to trick a man. See what he did also with Eve. He came to deceive Eve. He came to twist the water good.
