How do we overcome our heartbreak and disappointment? How are we liberated from the burdens of the past? That’s a question Paul struggled with for a long time. Despite his education and religious zealotry, prior to his experience on the Damascus road, he never felt he measured up.On top of his not measuring up himself, he was determined to hold everyone else to the standards he himself couldn’t meet… He persecuted  the early Christians and at the least was complicit in Stephen’s death. Paul couldn’t go back. He could only go forward. There are some things that we cannot undo or make right. Nevertheless, we are liberated from our guilt and shame, from our pain and regret when we put all of effort, energy, and focus into being and becoming salt and light for this world. I’m Horace McMillon.
