Der Vortrag versucht einen Vergleich zwischen den beiden prominentesten Vertretern der Open Source Desktop GIS. Dabei geht es nicht darum, Funktionslisten gegenüberzustellen und abzuarbeiten, sondern neben Funktionsgruppen auch die Philosophie der beiden Systeme zu vergleichen. An einigen Beispielen wird praktisch aufgezeigt, wie klassische GIS-Fragestellungen mit beiden Systemen gelöst werden können.
