Question 71: BUDDHISM SEEMS TO EMPHASIZE MEDITATION MORE THAN ANY OTHER RELIGIONS. COULD YOU INTRODUCE THE BUDDHIST METHOD OF MEDITATION?Answer: The Buddha attained Enlightenment through meditation, dedicated His life to teaching it, and ultimately entered Nirvana in a tranquil state of meditation. The majority of Buddhist sutras revolve around the practice of meditation. Many of the Buddha’s disciples reached profound meditative states, attaining enlightenment and Sainthood. The image of monks meditating in tranquil solitude has become a symbol of Buddhism. Moreover, Buddhism actively shares its practice of meditation with everyone, including adherents of other religions, to foster peace and harmony in the world. When the mind achieves tranquility, evil thoughts naturally fade, leaving only a desire to live with compassion and kindness. However, meditation is far from easy. The human mind is inherently restless, constantly generating thoughts. Even when there’s nothing specific to ponder, random thoughts arise, often referred to as wandering thoughts; battling these thoughts is not a simple task; it is a serious and challenging struggle that has caused many to abandon the practice. To succeed in meditation, one needs substantial merit accumulated over past lifetimes, a deeply rooted moral foundation, enduring physical health, and an exceptionally precise method. Meditation, like mathematics, leaves no room for error.Practicing meditation is not merely acquiring an additional skill or technique; it is an entry into a vast and comprehensive system of moral and spiritual development that transforms one's entire life. Choosing the path of meditation means embarking on a completely new way ofliving, not merely carrying a minor tool alongside oneself.Meditation should be understood as the path that helps humanity evolve from the ordinary to the Enlightened. This evolution is not a matter of genetic modifications but a profound spiritual transformation. Transitioning from an ordinary being to an Enlightened One is a monumental undertaking, not a simple endeavor. The practice of meditation is a long and challenging journey with many distinct stages, and its ultimate goal is to achieve Enlightenment, free from the “self” entirely. In this state, the ego dissolves, leaving only the profound truth of the universe, suffused with boundless love and wisdom. #Religions, #Buddhism, #DialogueBuddhismReligions, #Religious, #Buddhist, #Truedharma, #Meditation, #Enlightement, #Buddhatemple, #TheLawofKarma, #BuddhismforBeginners, #Janna, #JannaOrderMonastery,
