Questioning in Quarantine
from Epiphany for the Everyday Hosted by Emily Hill
It’s been 6 years since the world was flipped upside down and we all went into a lockdown phase that lasted way longer than the projected couple weeks. Regardless of your specific feelings about the pandemic and everything it has involved, I think it is fair to say that none of us are the same as we were before it all began. There’s a trend that has been going around where people list all of the significant changes that they’ve experienced in the pandemic years and it had me looking back on my own moments and memories… I graduated from seminary, shed a lot of tears, changed jobs, wrote a book, laughed a lot, adopted two dogs, gained a few pounds, lost some insecurities, salvaged a marriage that almost didn’t make it, did a few puzzles, learned how to worship without a stage, saw God show up in final breaths and first cries, heard His voice in new ways, found my voice in His name, and truly met Jesus in moments I never had been intentional enough to witness before. These years have been chaotic, but they’ve also had a beautiful quietness to them as the world was forced to slow down and hang on. I hope that there are moments too when you can notice the active presence of God in the midst of it all. It’s often in the brokenness and darkness of a world wrecked by sin that we see His light shine more clearly through the cracks 🤍
