Rachel's Story of Alcoholism and Finding Happiness in Soul Recovery
from Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life · host Rev. Rachel Harrison
This is my story about how I found my way out of the grip of addiction and disfunction and fully surrendered to recovery and healthier way of living. In this episode I talk about how drinking slowly transitioned from how I had fun, to how I coped with life until it was the addiction that was in complete control of my life. I spent years trying to manage my drinking and had times of sobriety until I finally completely surrendered to the 12 step program of recovery and did the work. My story is not just about letting go of drinking, it is about changing my whole way of thinking and letting go of control of anything other than myself and turning it over to my Higher Power. This episode includes a song I wrote "Calling For Me". The chorus had come to me when I was still in my last months of drinking and knew that there was a better life, but I was afraid and lost. The verses came to me when I had stepped back into the rooms of recovery and was ready for the changes that the program promises. This and my other original music can be found on the website.
