Rachel's Weeping is Filled Up -- A Mother's Day Sermon

from Poplar Springs Baptist · host Chris J. Petty

Rachel's life is defined by childbearing. She tells Jacob that she would rather die than not have children. Ironically, she dies while giving birth to Benjamin. Later, Jeremiah will picture Rachel weeping over her children as they go into exile. Matthew, quoting Jeremiah, again pictures Rachel weeping over her children as Herod massacres the children of Bethlehem in an attempt to kill the newborn King.
