Racial Equality with Social Media from Gin Hammond

it’s hard for me to say how the fight for racial equality has evolved in the age of social media, because everybody has their own echo chamber and is anybody listening?Some people are, some people aren’t.I think on the negative side, it’s become more fractional, more divisive, right?One phrase that I’m hearing a lot is about white adjacency, right?So it’s like people are retreating even further back into their caves, their echo chambers. And I get it because there’s, there’s a lot coming, coming at us. but saying, well, you can’t even be white adjacent.That just seems unrealistic to me.But it also harkens back to the times in history when black folks have been seeking, or at least in our minds, seeking utopias, right? I mean, they want to think about part of the reason why so many people love what is it? Science fiction, right?Because it is a world away from here.At best, I think social media can connect people really quickly and give them a sense of community. I tend to feel wary across the board, right?Especially because you never know when somebody’s going to turn on a dime.So I like to get to know people personally, one on one, analog.
