Good morning.In regional political news, longtime Tioga County Sheriff Gary Howard has announced he will not seek re-election when his current term ends in 2027, concluding nearly fifty years in law enforcement. Howard, who was first elected sheriff in 2004, oversees a staff of over one hundred officers. Sheriff’s Office veteran Frank Lavore has already announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for the seat.In Corning, plans are moving forward for a twenty-seven-million-dollar redevelopment of the former St. Vincent de Paul Church campus. The Parish Heights project will feature forty-five affordable apartments for seniors and families along with a daycare center, with ground breaking officially slated for the first quarter of 2027.And the City of Corning is wrapping up its summer youth programming with the annual Kids Day Carnival this Friday at the Civic Center Rink.
