Good morning.A California man is behind bars following a cross-country murder investigation into a fatal downtown Elmira shooting. Police have arrested twenty-one-year-old Jacob Chavez of San Marcos, California, charging him with second-degree murder for the January shooting death of forty-six-year-old Joshua Tappan inside the Centertown Parking Garage.In Chemung County Court, forty-five-year-old Lontell Maurice Davis has been indicted on felony charges of attempted murder and assault. Authorities say Davis repeatedly stabbed a man in the back during a violent July attack on Walnut Street before being apprehended on a local highway.And the three-day Schuyler County Italian American Festival kicks off today at Clute Park in Watkins Glen.
