Good morning.On this twenty-fifth anniversary of September eleventh, Elmira is honoring the local public safety personnel who stepped up in the aftermath of the tragedy. Former Elmira police officers who traveled to New York City to support the NYPD twenty-five years ago are reflecting on their service, while a steel girder from the World Trade Center remains on permanent display at the Elmira Regional Public Safety Training Center to honor all fallen heroes.In Yates County, a twenty-six-year-old Penn Yan man has been indicted on felony charges including second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. Sheriff’s deputies arrested David Ingalls following a grand jury investigation into the June twenty-twenty-five death of an unresponsive toddler in the town of Potter.And in Corning, a downtown staple is closing its doors after forty-six years.
