Prosecutors say thirty-year-old Alex McKinney defrauded seventeen victims out of roughly one-hundred-thousand dollars by charging for unperformed work—including painting an old transmission to pass it off as new. Sentencing is scheduled for October thirtieth.In county government news, the Franklin County Fiscal Court has approved opioid abatement funding to support nine local organizations. Sourced from Kentucky’s statewide settlement with opioid manufacturers, the money will aid community health initiatives, including over sixty-seven-thousand dollars awarded to Yes Arts and thirty-two-thousand dollars to the Thorn Hill Education Center.And a local mother has launched a community shoe drive to cover therapy expenses for her autistic son.
