Good morning.A twenty-year-old New Castle man who previously ran for the state House and local school board is in federal custody on child pornography charges. Federal agents arrested Justin Marshall Byers on Tuesday following a joint investigation by the F-B-I and Lawrence County authorities, charging him with federal counts of possessing material depicting the sexual exploitation of minors. Byers is currently being held in Pittsburgh pending a detention hearing this Friday.In local government news, New Castle City Council is considering a crackdown on clothing and shoe drop-off boxes across the city. Council members say while the bins are intended for donations, many lack owner contact information and have become major eyesores overflowing with trash, old furniture, and abandoned electronics. City officials are now drafting an ordinance to heavily regulate or ban the boxes.And an arrest warrant has been issued for a sixty-year-old South Side woman accused of hitting a child on a bicycle and fleeing the scene.
