Both candidates are vying for the chance to challenge Republican Congressman Nick Langworthy this November, arguing they can flip the heavily conservative district by winning over independent voters frustrated by high gas and grocery prices.Meanwhile, a newly passed state budget bill is drawing sharp criticism from local lawmakers. The Public Protection measure officially bars New York law enforcement agencies from partnering with ICE for immigration enforcement. Assemblymember Phil Palmesano, whose district covers the Corning and Hornell areas, heavily slammed the decision on the floor, calling the move a direct violation of local control that threatens public safety.And finally, communities across the region are wrapping up a memorable holiday weekend.
