Assemblyman Joe Sempolinski of Canisteo joined regional leaders to denounce the proposal, which aims to lift current bans on partisan gerrymandering and allow congressional district lines to be redrawn mid-decade. Sempolinski accused majority leaders of attempting to permanently rig the maps for political power.Meanwhile, public schools across Cattaraugus and Allegany counties are celebrating a major financial windfall. The newly finalized state budget secured a fifteen-million-dollar boost in total academic aid for the region.
