Good morning,State police investigators are on the scene in Parkersburg following a weekend shootout that left two people dead. Parkersburg police and Wood County deputies responded to a twenty-fifth street apartment Saturday night when a suspect opened fire on them. Law enforcement returned fire, killing the shooter. Inside the home, officers discovered a second body, which investigators believe was dead before police arrived. A state police crime scene team is leading the ongoing investigation.Across the river in Belpre, city officials are holding an internal debriefing this morning following a devastating weekend apartment blast. Emergency crews arrived Saturday afternoon to find a multi-family home fully engulfed in flames after an explosion threw a portion of the building's roof into nearby trees. No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported. The Ohio Fire Marshal is working to determine the cause.And law enforcement agencies across the Mid-Ohio Valley are wrapping up National Police Week.
