Good morning.The A-C-L-U of West Virginia has formally notified state officials of its intent to file a class-action lawsuit over public school funding. Legal advocates argue the state's outdated funding formula violates the West Virginia Constitution by creating severe financial inequities, leaving rural school districts facing dilapidated facilities, teacher shortages, and inadequate special education support.In Wood County government news, the Assessor’s Office is working with county commissioners to address a projected budget deficit of around three hundred fifty-seven thousand dollars. Assessor John Kelly says the shortfall stems from years of overspending and rising health insurance costs, with potential solutions including internal spending cuts and a possible five percent increase in countywide property assessments.And in local political news, long-time Delegate Vernon Criss has officially filed to run as a write-in candidate for the District Twelve House of Delegates seat in the general election.
