Good morning.Wood County Commissioners have shot down a proposed five percent increase in property valuations, declaring the idea dead during Thursday's meeting. County Assessor John Kelly presented the idea as one of several potential options to address a projected three hundred fifty-seven thousand dollar budget shortfall in his office's real estate division. Commissioners rejected the proposal, stating they will not raise property assessments on local residents to cover past budget errors.In community news, the West Virginia State Honey Festival returns to Parkersburg City Park this Saturday and Sunday.
