Good morning,West Virginia voters head to the polls tomorrow to decide two seats on the state Supreme Court. Unlike most races on the ballot, the Supreme Court contests are nonpartisan and will be decided outright by the highest vote totals. One seat opened following the retirement of Justice Beth Walker, while the second became vacant after the death of Justice Tim Armstead last year.Meanwhile, a new emergency communications system is now online in Mason County. Officials say the Next Generation 9-1-1 system gives dispatchers more accurate caller location information the moment a call comes in. Emergency leaders say the technology is especially important in rural areas where callers may not know exactly where they are.In Huntington, Marshall University celebrated its largest graduating class in years over the weekend. More than 15-hundred students received degrees during commencement ceremonies Saturday at Marshall Health Network Arena. University officials say more than half of the graduates were the first in their families to earn a college degree.In the Northern Panhandle, drivers in Wheeling should expect delays as paving work continues through late May. Alternate lane closures are in effect during business hours along parts of Eoff Street, 16th Street and Chapline Street, with flaggers directing traffic through the work zones.And officials in Jefferson County are raising concerns over a spike in deadly overdoses. Eight fatal overdoses have already been reported this year, including four in April alone. Health officials are urging residents to avoid illegal drugs and reminding families that naloxone is available for emergency overdose situations.And in Weirton, the city is preparing for the return of its annual summer concert series. Live music events begin May 22nd at the Weirton Event Center and will continue Friday evenings through the end of July. Organizers say the concerts are designed to bring the community together and support local businesses.Plus, the South Charleston Farmers Market celebrated its first anniversary over the weekend with a Mother’s Day event that featured local vendors, tractor rides, inflatables and family activities.
