Good morning.In statewide news, Kentucky is set to receive three-hundred-fifty-eight million dollars as part of a landmark nationwide settlement with Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram. Attorney General Russell Coleman announced the deal, which resolves claims that Meta knowingly designed addictive platform features that harm children's mental health. As part of the agreement, Meta will implement daily time limits, block nighttime access for teen users, and enforce stricter age verification.In Lexington, community members are gathering today for a memorial service marking the twentieth anniversary of the Comair Flight fifty-one ninety-one tragedy. On August twenty-seventh, two-thousand-six, forty-nine people were killed when the commercial flight attempted to take off from the wrong runway at Blue Grass Airport. The anniversary memorial is scheduled for one p.m. at the State Botanical Garden of Kentucky.In Louisville, community leaders are launching new volunteer safety patrols following a Tuesday morning shooting near a Jefferson County Public Schools bus stop that left a Valley High School student critically injured. Meanwhile, J-C-P-S is celebrating a major milestone with the ribbon cutting of the new twenty-four-million-dollar Diane L. Porter Preschool in Buechel, featuring twenty-three state-of-the-art classrooms.In law enforcement news, a Shively police officer has been suspended without pay after being charged with official misconduct and unlawful use of a computer. Investigators say Officer Asad Zahir used the Flock license plate reader database more than two-thousand times between January and May to illegally track his ex-partner's vehicle movements.And at the University of Kentucky, federal agriculture officials have announced a final twenty-six-million-dollar investment from the U-S-D-A to complete the new Forage-Animal Production Research building.
