RNN KY NEWS ROUNDUP 07/15/26                     Many new state laws are taking effect in Kentucky today.  More than half of the 190 bills passed by the Kentucky General Assembly this year are becoming effective.  This includes the state's new law against sexual grooming and a measure that expands prohibited content to include AI-generated images of minors.  A bill requiring the public to maintain a 25-foot zone around first responders performing their duties takes effect today as well.           A couple of law firms are now representing the family of a man who was killed in a July 4th boat crash on Herrington Lake in Mercer County.  Attorneys with Peterson Law and Whiteford, Taylor & Preston have confirmed the loved ones of Nazar Svintozelskiy are clients.  The 25-year-old man died after a wake boat struck his family's pontoon while it was sitting stationary in the water.  THE VICTIM'S father remains in a medically-induced coma.  Officials with Kentucky Fish and Wildlife have identified the wake boat driver, but no charges have been filed so far.          Local leaders in Newport are ending their Flock camera pilot program.  City officials say they are not moving ahead with a purchase of the license plate readers and the existing equipment will be removed within the next couple of weeks.  Assistant City Manager Brian Steffen says local leaders do not believe the technology would be misused in Newport, but some new Fourth Amendment court rulings raise questions about the future of automated license plate readers.  This includes the recent Chatrie v. United States Supreme Court decision, which found that law enforcement must obtain a search warrant before accessing detailed location information for a U.S. citizen.           The Grayson County Sheriff's Office is asking for help from the public as deputies search for an attempted murder suspect.  Authorities are looking to apprehend 35-year-old Joshua L. Shultz.  He is described as a white man standing five feet, nine inches tall, weighing about 195 pounds, with long hair, a beard and blue eyes.  Shultz was last seen driving a silver Hyundai Elantra with Kentucky plates, according to officials.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.
