Authorities conducting a welfare check at a Mechanicville apartment discovered the bodies of thirty-one-year-old Sarah Myers, her mother, and her four young children, including ten-year-old twins. While police are investigating the scene as a crime, they assure the public there is no ongoing threat to the community.In political news, Hudson Valley Congressmen Pat Ryan and Josh Riley are demanding action after a federal housing bill abruptly stalled. The bipartisan legislation aimed to lower rental costs and reduce development barriers across New York. The lawmakers are calling for immediate approval, warning that New Yorkers are currently being crushed by skyrocketing housing costs and a lack of affordable options.Meanwhile, Bills fans are facing major sticker shock following the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park. Sheriff's deputies say a vehicle traveling through Little Valley struck a runaway horse before colliding head-on with an oncoming car. Five children inside the vehicles sustained injuries and were rushed to Golisano Children's Hospital in Rochester.And outdoor enthusiasts heading to Steuben County will find some relief. The popular shallow wading area at Stony Brook State Park is open to the public daily. However, park officials caution that the deep natural swimming pool and the main Gorge Trail remain completely off-limits.
