The move officially closes a twelve-billion-dollar budget gap inherited by the current city administration. The state has now provided nearly eight billion dollars over two years, focusing on stabilizing the city's finances and funding universal childcare.In Albany, energy costs are the main focus as a final 268-billion-dollar state budget comes together. The deal reportedly includes a one-billion-dollar energy rebate aimed at providing immediate relief to New Yorkers facing some of the highest utility costs in the country. However, the plan also includes rollbacks to certain state climate goals, as the Governor admits previous emission targets were becoming unattainable and too expensive for residents to bear.In East Fishkill, Town Supervisor Nicholas D'Alessandro is moving to squash social media rumors about a massive AI data center. D'Alessandro says no formal application exists, and residents should be assured that the local power grid couldn't handle that kind of load anyway.On the health front, the State Health Department is issuing a warning as tick season kicks into high gear.
