Federal authorities say MWI Veterinary Supply failed to flag or question excessive orders of oxycodone and hydrocodone placed by Doctor Clara Ann Mason between 2018 and 2023. Mason already faces a court judgment of nearly nine hundred fifty-seven thousand dollars for mishandling and concealing prescription drug purchases.Also in Putnam County, Google and 84 Lumber are partnering to fund community upgrades across local schools and public organizations in Buffalo. The corporate funding will support new library kiosks, audio-visual equipment, flooring, and building accessibility for Buffalo schools, the local senior center, and the volunteer fire department. Google has also launched a community portal where residents can submit questions about its planned data center.In Charleston, municipal leaders from more than two hundred thirty West Virginia cities, towns, and villages are gathered for the annual West Virginia Municipal League Conference. Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin says local officials are collaborating on key municipal challenges, including grant writing, dilapidated property remediation, and artificial intelligence applications.In Cabell County, fire officials are investigating a fatal house fire in Huntington. Firefighters responded to the six-hundred block of Norway Avenue Wednesday morning to find a single-family home heavily ablaze. Search crews located one deceased victim inside, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.And in Kanawha County, local officials have broken ground on a one-million-dollar water line extension along Upper Rambling Hills Road.
