Raiders 2026 Special Teams Training Camp Storylines

As the Las Vegas Raiders approach their 2026 training camp, new primary storylines focus on significant transitions within their special teams units. A major highlights is the kicking competition between veteran Matt Gay and Japanese newcomer Kansei Matsuzawa, who is nicknamed "The Tokyo Toe." Beyond the kicking battle, the team is evaluating a new group of returners following the departure of previous statistical leaders at those positions. All-Pro punter AJ Cole remains a steady force, yet he must now adapt to a completely different supporting cast of long snappers and kickers. While high-profile additions like Fernando Mendoza and Tyler Linderbaum bolster the roster, these under-the-radar specialists will be vital to the team's overall success.
