Raiders Training Camp Notebook: Mendoza and Kubiak Lead Day 9

During the ninth day of 2026 training camp, Raiders Head Coach Klint Kubiak enforced discipline by benching stars Kirk Cousins and Maxx Crosby from team drills following an earlier altercation. This decision provided rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza an opportunity to lead the first-team offense, where he displayed improved mobility and pocket presence while connecting on several scoring plays. On the defensive side, Malcolm Koonce took on a larger role in Crosby's absence, maintaining his focus on pass-rushing versatility. The session also highlighted a productive ground game, featuring a significant touchdown run by Ashton Jeanty made possible by strong perimeter blocking. Overall, the practice emphasized team standards and the development of younger players as the preseason approaches.
