Railroad Bridge

Originally Aired: November 4, 1938The Lone Ranger #901, "Railroad Bridge," finds the construction of the first transcontinental railroad threatened by both engineering challenges and rising tensions with local Indians. Young Ray Holbrook has just been promoted to oversee the completion of a crucial bridge near Boiling Rock, replacing the more experienced Mr. Stevens. Ray shares his exciting news with Jane Perry and her cantankerous father Clem, hoping this achievement will help him win Jane's hand in marriage. However, his plans are complicated when word arrives that Indians forty miles east have become frightened of a waiting locomotive, believing the fire-breathing engine to be a monster. The situation grows more dangerous when stolen liquor reaches the tribe, and Sheriff warns that the Indians are preparing for war.The crisis becomes personal when young Jackie Perry is suddenly kidnapped from his own yard while the adults discuss the Indian threat. As Jane cries out for her stolen son and the sheriff prepares to give chase, the Lone Ranger and Tonto arrive in the region, observing the war-painted Indians gathering in the valley. With the railroad project in jeopardy, a child's life at stake, and an Indian uprising brewing, Ray Holbrook faces challenges far beyond bridge construction.
