Rain Starting 3 PM | Puerto Rico Weather

from The Puerto Rico Weather Podcast

Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly. And welcome to the Puerto Rico Weather Podcast — it's Monday, February 23rd. Seventy-one degrees right now with clear skies. Feels like summer, right? Don't get too comfortable. A storm system is tracking our way. And by Wednesday, things get messy. Metro San Juan climbs to 83 degrees by noon. Scattered showers roll in after 9 A.M., with the best chance between 3 P.M. And 5 P.M. Winds stay light from the southeast around 7 miles an hour. Tonight, isolated showers linger after midnight. Lows near 74. Head south and it's a different story. Southern Puerto Rico hits 91 degrees by 1 P.M. That's well above normal for late February. Brief showers possible between noon and 2 P.M., then skies clear tonight. Lows drop to 73 by 4 A.M. Western Puerto Rico mirrors the metro. Sunny until scattered showers arrive after noon. Highs hit 86 degrees around 1 P.M. Winds gust to 16 miles an hour by 2 P.M. Tonight turns clear and cooler, with lows near 71. Now here's the big story. Rain chances double by Tuesday. Wednesday brings widespread showers and thunderstorms. Flooding becomes a real concern, especially in central Puerto Rico. And for beachgoers.. A long-period northwesterly swell arrives Wednesday, bringing life-threatening rip currents and high surf through Friday. Northern and western coasts will be especially dangerous. Looking ahead: Tuesday brings 50 percent rain chances in San Juan, 70 percent out west. Wednesday is the wettest day with gusty east winds to 22 miles an hour. Thursday and Friday keep showers around, but conditions slowly improve. The weekend finally brings drier air, sunny skies. And highs in the mid-80s. Sunrise today is at 6:49 A.M., sunset at 6:29 P.M. Stay weather aware this week, folks. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
